It would seem that I have upset the order of the Blender universe by posting Issue #26’s Call for Content before we had released Issue #25. That was not my intention. Issue #25 is on schedule to be released in about a week or so. You have not missed it, it isn’t canceled. It is coming.

I have been monitoring the number of articles submitted for each issue and the time needed by the writers to complete their submissions and came to the conclusion that a little more time would be helpful. So as a test run, I released Call for Content early to see if more time helps both the writers and my staff out.

The French translation team has released another issue of Blenderart Magazine in French. Issue #17 ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ or as they say in French ‘Lumières, Caméra, Action!’ is now available for download on the issues page. Blenderart Magazine would like to thank the French translation team for all their hard work and for being so dedicated to providing a French translation for the French community. This month we’ve seen the speedy work of the French translation team as it has been only several days ago since we last posted issue 16! We have no doubt that issue 18 is close at hand.

As Blender art magazine enters its 4th year of publication, (yes it really has been that long), the time has come to adjust our release schedule. While the staff as well as the contributing artists and authors make every attempt to hit our release schedule, life does have a way of interfering. Especially when we are all volunteers.

It took three years to knock us completely off schedule, with our last issue being released almost three weeks late. So in order to get us back on schedule without affecting the quality of our magazine, we will start a new schedule beginning with issue #20.

We will still release every two months, but instead of releasing in the months of:

Nov, Jan, Mar, May, July and Sept,

we will now release in:

Feb, Apr, June, Aug, Oct and Dec.

That should get us back on track (well at least for the next three years. )

So next submission deadline will be Feb 5th with mag release at the end of Feb.

Blenducation is launching “Real time online classes”.

First off you need to register at the site and then you can sign up for offered classes, most of which will be free with a few being offered for a small fee.

(There are complete instructions on the site explaining the sign up process).

Knowing that interested participants are in a number of different time zones, Dipingo included a time zone setting on his site, that once set to your time zone, allows you to see when the classes are offered “your time”. Very handy indeed for those like me who are forever trying to make time conversion more complicated than it really is.

Once you have signed up, you receive an email invitation with a link to join a “net meeting” room. That is where your class will take place. After you join the class, you see the instructor’s desktop and watch the lesson in real time as it is being taught. There is even a chat room, where you can talk to the other students as well as the instructor.

The first class (which has already passed, but may be offered again) was designed to be an informational “meet and greet”, to introduce how the classes would look and feel.

And it worked great. As Dipingo explained how the classes would work, we could see everything he was doing on his computer. The audio and speed of video update was good.

I can see enormous potential for this project. The ability to hold classes real time is a great way to get students from all over together in an interactive endearment.

The staff of Blenderart Magazine wishes Blenducation all the luck and sucess possible, and eagerly await more classes to be scheduled for our educational enjoyment.

Sign up for classes here.
