I’ve been waiting for this! Thanks people!
Thanks for this new issue! I’d just like to add that my blog http://www.feeblemind.org has just been refactored and that most of my tutorials have been updated for Blender 2.50 Alpha 2. I’m still working on the update of the few last tutorials, among which one that has been published in BA Magazine a couple of years ago
Thanks.

Too bad the quality of this website is constantly decreasing
- Though I am subscribed to the feed http://www.blenderart.org/feed/atom/ I noticed that the new release is out via posts on other blogs, as the feed isn’t uptodate (the RSS feed is).
- on the magazine download page the download mirrors of EU2, EU3 and Asia don’t have the files
- no torrent download (which is probably the most resourcefriendly; have given away like 50 copies of prior releases via torrent)
- Issue #25 had some severe layout problems (tons of missing characters), people reported about. Totally ignored. No fixed version.
- even this input form has the testarea wider than the pagewidth and thus being cut having users type into the “invisible”.
This is sad
We are well aware that our site is having issues. I guess this is the price you pay for being popular. On release day, too many hits at once causes hiccups in site availability. We are working on finding a workable resolution to the problem.
As for issue #25, there have been several complaints reported on the formatting of the pdf. But every time we have checked it, it looks fine. I’m still not sure what the problem with that issue is. Somewhere, something is corrupted, but I have been unable to find the problem.
The website itself is totally responsive …
EUR 2, EUR 3 and Asia 1 still don’t carry the newest issue and there still is no torrent link,.
If you have too many hits it might be a good idea to have all the mirrors and a torrent ready before releasing.
Retrieving the ATOM feed worked pretty well, it just didn’t list the new article. Doesn’t sound like a load problem to me either, even more as the RSS feed had it.
As for the #25 issues:
If you can’t see/find the problem, why don’t you state it, so people see someone tries to take care of and can provied more help? Not saying anything gives the impression of “we give a f” to people.
Goto page 4:
- each and every letter “q” is missing on the page (not being display, just like it was a blank char)
- most (but not all) digits are missing.
Goto page 7:
- easy to see tons of digits are missing on that page, even some letters like the uppercase “U”
in “Blender . – ser Preferences”
I have exactly the same symptoms on two different computers, one running Linux with evince and one running MS Windows with Adobe reader.
You have my email address. I can provide screenshot if you like.
Not all of our mirrors have uploaded as of yet. Some issues it takes longer than others.
As for Issue #25, I am having gaurav look at it again. Every once in a while, we seem to have problems with an issue, sometimes we can find the problem, sometimes we can’t. It isn’t a matter of not knowing where readers are having a problem, it is a matter of that problem not being there when we download the issue ourselves. And not everyone seems to be having said problem, only a relatively small number of readers.
No torrent?
That’s why the server goes down on release days.
I want my 0-day torrent link!
I only download BAMag from torrent links.
Thank you for the great magazine.
I must admit to being a leach. I have downloaded issues but not read them. Just checked issue 25 and have the same problem.
What is wrong with you people, this magazine is free and put together by blender enthusiasts just like you, and all you can do is moan. It’s packed with tips and tutorials, all for free, so give the guys who put it together a break. If you can’t get the mag on the day, come back another day, it’s not going to disappear.
Thanks for the magazine, another great read.
What’s wrong with you Paul?
Did you even read what we were talking about?
Nobody complained that s/he couldn’t get the issue that day it came out.
We talked about broken RSS feeds, broken links on the webpages and font problems in the magazine.
And just because something is free doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try as hard as they can to make it free of errors, just like you probably expect it from the programmers that write blender and just like people expect it from me, in my open source and freely available code or when I help them to fix problems with their configuration in forums or on mailing lists.
dreamsgate (who is an admin?) said they have load problems on release days. We told him to try and have a torrent ready at the time of the release announcement, as that would split the load and distribute it between all downloaders and not hit the site. NOW (~ 2 weeks later) the torrent is ready and I am seeding for a few days, and though I am one of only 6 seeders currently I had not one requests ever, because NOW it is too late.
