Call for Content Blenderart #24

It’s time again to start thinking about articles, tutorials and images for Issue # 24 of Blenderart Magazine.

The theme for this issue is “From Out of the Deep…”.

Part of the fun of being a 3d artist is getting to create things out of your imagination. And since little is actually know about the deeps of the oceans and seas, it provides a great environment for creative endeavors. It is also provides a challenging environment to light properly and apply believable underwater caustics.

So let’s fire up our imaginations and blender and create some amazing “From Out of the Deep…” projects. And don’t forget to share what you have created with us.

We are looking for:

Images, Animations & Games that contain or feature:

  • Sea creatures
    • scary/dangerous
    • cute, exotic
    • fictional, realistic
  • Underwater Scenes/Environments
    • caves, coral reefs, plant life
    • Underwater cities / sunken ships

Also wanted, great shaders, materials and node setups for great looking materials and effects.

  • I would love to see a new article covering some of the possible new features and design of Blender 2.5. Some differences we might be able to expect. Basicly, just a general preview of things to expect.

  • I published tutorials introducing Blender users to 2.50’s user interface and new features, as well as tutorials about advanced features such as radiosity, bump maps, and texture nodes. They’re published on YouTube in HD, at:

I would be happy to write up an article about them. Since I missed the deadline for #24, perhaps I could do it for #25.

    I welcome your comments.

    Sincerely yours,
    Ira Krakow
